MATTERS AND CONFLICTS

The matter is the unit of work.

Not a folder. A matter, with a client, a reference, a responsible partner, a practice area and a jurisdiction: and every chat, run, document and credit spent attached to it.

The facts a partner asks for in ten seconds

Client, matter reference, responsible partner, practice area, jurisdiction, key dates, counterparties, status. They sit across the top of the matter, so anyone picking up the file knows whose it is, who supervises it and what is coming.

A conflict check when you open it

Opening a matter runs a name match across your other matters, their parties and their documents. Where a possible conflict sits in a matter the reader is not on, the product does not show them the file: it names the partner to ask and redacts the rest. This is a conflict check with restricted-matter redaction, not an ethical wall.

A clear conflict check result, and a restricted one, redacted per reader.

Close, archive, export

Closing a matter is a real action. Export the same register the audit page produces, scoped to one matter: runs, verification outcomes, share links, documents and members, so the file you keep matches the file you worked in.

How it works

  1. 01

    Open the matter

Client, reference, partner, practice area, jurisdiction, key dates.

  2. 02

    Conflict check runs

A name match across your matters, parties and documents, automatically.

  3. 03

    Add documents and work

Every chat, run and document attaches to this matter, not a folder.

  4. 04

    Close and export

Archive it, and export the register scoped to this one file.

What it does not do

  • This is a conflict check, not an information barrier. Restricted matters and per-reader redaction exist; ethical walls as a configurable feature do not.
  • Members see the matters they are on, plus anything shared firm-wide; owners and admins see everything in the firm.
  • Nothing leaves the firm unless someone deliberately creates a share link, and any link can be revoked.
